Bands what I have been seeing

Two excellent concerts in a row:

  • Mono. Great show. I could rave and gibber on about Mono, so I'll just sum up: it was transporting. You can also check out several of their live shows on archive.org.
  • Low. Good show, I like the heavier sound they are working with now.

One thing I've been wondering about: why do people pay money to go see a band and then TALK LOUDLY DURING THE QUIET PARTS? This was especially evident at Mono, as it was at a tiny club. I'm not looking for symphony-style level of hush, but some respect for the mood an artist is trying to build would be nice.

the not-shuttin-up thing is a huge complaint of mine. so much so that when i kicked off my own series of shows i had coasters, and later, table tents, printed up to say "boston pop underground encourages silence during performances. (feel free to be wicked loud at all other times.)"

it didn't help.

sigh.
